Frank Monte contemporary artist
Frank is a local artist from Fairport, New York. He is an active member of the Penfield Art Association, currently painting at the Sari Gaby studio in Rochester, and is involved in long-distance art education with Nicora Gangi, an artist and professor from Syracuse University.
Frank's artistic background goes back to 1969. As a student, he worked alongside a European artist and tradesman who trained him in the art of repair and painting of religious figures and scenes adorning older stained glass windows. The process of layered color glazing and multiple firing of delicate glass pieces gave him a strong appreciation for the effect of color on the human spirit. "Artists of the past understood how color, creatively mixed, could influence the sense of well-being that the casual observer felt. Color and line combine in symbol form to tell a story."
Frank also studied sculpture and the human form at the Art Students League in New York City in 1970.
Frank is currently exploring the use of pastels as a medium that expresses emotion and color excitement.
Frank is a member of the Rochester Art Club, and the Penfield Art Club. His work can be viewed at the Roselawn Gallery in Rochester, New York.
